Metricon has been named Australia’s number one home builder for the seventh consecutive year with the release of the HIA COLORBOND® Steel Housing Top 100 Report.
The 2021/22 Report, which ranks Australia’s top 100 residential builders based on the number of home builds commenced each year, was released today at the Construction Outlook Breakfast in Melbourne; it saw Metricon top the list with a total of 5,969 starts, across Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia.
Our CEO Peter Langfelder said he was proud of Metricon’s ability to navigate through and thrive in the midst of arguably the most challenging market conditions the industry has ever experienced.
“Escalating construction costs, weaker consumer confidence, consecutive central bank interest rate increases, rising inflation plus speculation around the industry’s stability all conspired against us and our competitors alike. Despite this, we managed to deliver 5,969 new Metricon homes to Australian customers during the past year. This is a very tangible proof point of our continued business strength." Peter Langfelder, Metricon CEO
We're very proud to be ranked number one for the seventh consecutive year and to have grown Metricon’s share of the national residential build market during this challenging period for the construction industry. This is a demonstration of the dedication of our team, our passion for what we do, and most importantly the Australian families we do it for.
“Much of the credit for our success must go to our staff, trades and suppliers whose in-depth knowledge, expertise and hard work has meant we’ve been able to deliver homes that are matched to the unique lifestyles and needs of our customers." Peter Langfelder

Our sharp focus over the next 12 months will be to continue to execute quality builds as quickly and efficiently as possible whilst maintaining equilibrium in the pipeline.
We expect to continue to contract, on average 100 homes every week during the next 12 months - a figure that aligns with pre-pandemic levels.
“Our future construction pipeline shows we’re in good shape to deliver around 6,000 site-starts in 2023. For the medium and long-term there is still strong demand for quality home builds Australia-wide and we’re confident that our business model, coupled with our commitment to innovation and customer service, will enable our continued leadership.” Peter Langfelder
