When Sally Blythe turned her attention to buying her first home, she knew she had to honour the memory of her late father. “I chose to build because my dad was a builder,” Sally says. “I wanted a home that was going to last. I didn’t want to buy a second-hand house and wind up having a load of problems to fix and him not be there to go through that journey with me.”
Choosing to build brand new wasn’t the only no-brainer for Sally.
“Metricon are Australia’s biggest builder, I’d heard a lot of good things about them and I like their houses,” she says. “When I looked at other companies, I didn’t like the layouts because there are a lot of tiny rooms, whereas Metricon’s are a lot more open plan. The designs are beautiful.”
The Sullivan 17A with an Aspire façade from the Freedom by Metricon range delivered everything Sally dreamed of and more. The single-storey plan places the master suite pride of place at the front of the home, with an ensuite bathroom and a walk-in wardrobe. Two additional bedrooms with built-in wardrobes sit in their own discrete zone and share a second bathroom.
The rear of the home features an open-plan living area that seamlessly extends into the outdoor space through sliding doors. A galley-style kitchen connects to the laundry via a walk-in pantry. The design is completed with a double garage, providing Sally with ample space to breathe easy. The speedy five-month build journey was notably stress-free for her too.
“Communication was just impeccable,” Sally says. “Even when nothing was happening, my project manager was on the phone offering constant reassurance.”
Feedback like this ensures Metricon keeps claiming the title of Australia’s number one home builder, as recognised by the Housing Industry Association for the eighth consecutive year in 2023. It’s a record Metricon CEO Brad Duggan is immensely proud of.
“More than 90 customers like Sally chose to commence building with Metricon every week in the past year, trusting us with the most important purchase of their lives,” Brad says. “This is a testament to the passion of our team, including our skilled tradespeople and trusted suppliers.”
"Homes are not going to get any cheaper, so we are constantly working on smart designs and specifications to address affordability,” Brad adds.
“With interest rates now settling, I would urge any home buyer who has felt despondent about the property market to investigate what we offer. We are sure to have a home that will meet any budget.” Brad Duggan
Sally can testify. Knowing that her dad would expect the best, choosing the right design was essential to Sally. "I wasn’t looking at the price first, I was looking at something I could imagine living in.” The result is a home that not only meets her practical needs but also reflects her vision for comfortable and contemporary living.
