If you build a new home, first home buyers in SA can access a first home buyer’s grant in South Australia. This grant is paid for by the State Government and can be up to $15,000. The first home buyers grant in South Australia payment is made to first home buyers in SA after their application has been submitted and approved by RevenueSA, or a bank or lender authorized by RevenueSA. The first home buyers grant in South Australia applies when you sign a contract to build a new home, whether it is a house, a flat, a unit, a townhouse or an apartment anywhere in SA.
Stamp duty is a tax on the transfer of the property and is paid on a range of different transactions across South Australia. While first home buyers in South Australia may be eligible for stamp duty concessions, the good news is that for those buying a house and land package, the amount you pay in stamp duty can be a lot less than if you buy an existing home. This is because stamp duty is only charged on the purchase of the black of land, not the unbuilt home.
