Metricon ends the year with even more major awards to add to the pile

Metricon

Metricon’s South Australian team celebrated an incredible evening at the recent HIA-CSR South Australian Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards, taking home the ‘Professional Major Builder’ trophy for the ninth year in a row. That’s an impressive feat, given it’s only been 12 years since we’ve been active in the South Australian market.

To be recognised for our design, workmanship and build quality is something we take a lot of pride in. To receive the prestigious HIA Professional Major Builder of the Year award for the ninth time is a great achievement for our entire team and testament to the dedication we show our customers every day. Neil Bisset, Metricon’s South Australia General Manager

It wasn’t the only award the company scooped up on the night. Metricon’s Designer by Metricon Qualia 34 took home the top prize in the ‘Best Display Home’ $400,001-$650,000 category. Located in Mount Barker, it’s an inspirational family home offering loads of space for everyone. Natural oak floors contrast with stylish navy wood panelled walls. Everyone has their own spot to hang out in, including a dedicated theatre room, and the vast central living area spills out onto a big balcony overlooking the Adelaide Hills. No wonder it wowed the judges.

It’s been a remarkable year for Metricon, awards-wise. So much so that we might need to invest in a bigger display cabinet. We were recognised as Australia’s number one home builder for the seventh consecutive year despite all the challenges facing the industry. The HIA COLORBOND® Steel Housing Top 100 Report ranks Australia’s top 100 residential builders based on the number of homes commenced. Metricon took the top spot, breaking ground on just short of 6,000 homes.

Escalating construction costs, weaker consumer confidence, consecutive central bank interest rate increases, rising inflation plus speculation around the industry’s stability all conspired against us and our competitors alike. Despite this, we managed to deliver 5,969 new Metricon homes to Australian customers during the past year. This is a very tangible proof point of our continued business strength. Peter Langfelder, Metricon CEO

Metricon CEO Peter Langfelder credits the incredible team at Metricon who go above and beyond to make dreams come true for countless Australian families. Our Victorian and Queensland teams also secured multiple awards in October, helping kick start our final quarter run for 2022.

Metricon also reached a major milestone this year, handing over the keys to the Mir family in Melbourne, our 65,000th home in 46 years of realising the dreams of Australians who want to love where they live. Marking the moment with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a bundle of housewarming gifts, Peter said it was a sign of even brighter times ahead for Australia’s most trusted building company. “With in excess of 13,000 homes to be built nationally, our pipeline of work is the strongest in the history of our business, we’re looking forward to building on this milestone and constructing many more dream homes for Australians.”
