When Pankhi, an executive in the utility sector, and her husband, Ani, a tech entrepreneur, moved to Australia from India, they had enough to focus on - settling into a new country and adjusting to life in Melbourne.
With so many changes happening at once, choosing the right home was a task that felt daunting. With limited time and energy to devote to every detail, they opted for Metricon’s HomeSolution offering. It was the perfect solution for the couple, who were looking for a practical and efficient way to make their new life in Australia feel more complete.
“When we initially moved to Melbourne, we had no idea where to start when it came to building a home, so HomeSolution was an easy option,” Pankhi says.
But now, fully settled in and with a clearer vision for their growing family, Pankhi and Ani returned to Metricon for something more tailored. “We were living in an apartment back in India, and now with two young boys, we wanted a larger home with more space to grow,” Pankhi shares. “We love hosting parties, so we needed a home with both open, shared spaces downstairs and a private retreat just for us upstairs.”
The couple decided to rent out their first home and build a spacious Vantage 48 with a Wembley façade in Werribee - perfect for their growing family. They added personal touches, including a balcony on a south-facing block, a feature considered good luck in Pankhi’s culture.
“Working from home a few days a week, we really appreciate the study space and the expansive floorplan,” Pankhi explains. “And the void area at the entrance makes the house feel so open. It’s also perfect for when people drop by unexpectedly, as I can peek from upstairs to see who it is.”
One unexpected gem of the home has been the space beneath the staircase. "It’s the perfect storage spot to keep kids' toys and the vacuum tucked away, so the living areas stay tidy," says Pankhi. "It also comes in handy when we travel - we go back to India often, and it’s great for storing luggage."
For the family, celebrations are another way they infuse their home with meaning and joy. "Diwali is like Christmas for us," Pankhi says. "We love decorating with lights. Some families even keep them up all year and only light them for special celebrations like Diwali or Christmas." Their love for thoughtful design extends into these moments of celebration, where the home becomes a vibrant space for connection and togetherness.
Throughout the building process, Pankhi was impressed by how easy it was. “Before signing the contract, we visited Studio M to see all the options, and the consultants were really helpful in showing us different alternatives.” The design process was a breeze, allowing Pankhi and Ani to make informed decisions that reflected their family’s needs and preferences.
Pankhi shared their home-building journey on Instagram, connecting with others who were navigating the same process. "I loved showing our experience, especially because it helped others visualise their own homes. People would ask me questions about colour selections and all of our choices. One woman even visited my home because she was building the same Vantage 48 in the estate next door! She also chose a balcony and the same brick colour."
From a simple start to a large dream home, Pankhi and Ani’s journey is a testament to how personal touches, thoughtful design, and smart storage - combined with trusting Metricon twice to bring their vision to life - can create the perfect space for family living.
