Metricon has been named Australia’s number one home builder for the sixth year in a row with the release of the HIA COLORBOND® Steel Housing Top 100 Report today on the 2021 HIA Construction Outlook webinar.
The 2020/21 HIA-COLORBOND® Steel Housing 100 report, which ranks Australia’s top 100 residential builders based on the number of home builds commenced each year, saw Metricon top the list with a total of 6,052 starts, across Victoria, Queensland, NSW and South Australia.
Metricon CEO Mario Biasin said, “We recognise our fortunate position in an economic climate that has been challenging for so many others. Despite lockdowns, materials shortages and construction pauses, 6,052 Australians have still chosen Metricon to build their new home across the last year, and we feel humbled by their support.
“The Federal Government’s HomeBuilder scheme, lower interest rates, and increased consumer desire to live in new homes, many away from high-density areas, have facilitated a huge surge in demand for new detached homes.
“We're in a very fortunate situation to be ranked number one for the sixth consecutive year and to have grown Metricon’s share of the national residential build market during this boom time for construction. This is a demonstration of the dedication of our national team, our passion for what we do, and most importantly the Australian families we do it for.
“Our customers have and always will be our top priority, and it is an honour that Australian home buyers continue to trust us with the most important purchase of their lives, even during a global pandemic. It’s what drives us to continually improve design, construction and customer care.
“Our site starts increased by 33% year on year, that represents another 1,518 families building a new home with us this year or an additional 29 each week.
“We have learnt so much along the way about managing COVID-19 lockdowns and have extensive safety procedures in place to keep working safely and efficiently. We agree with the States and Federal Governments, that vaccination is the most pragmatic pathway to a life out of lockdown, consistent business operations and keeping our employees, trades and customers safe.
“We’re committed to building homes to suit evolving customer needs and budgets and believe the diversity of our designs and price-points means we’ve been able to maintain relevance for customers. Across our brands, we really do have a home for every Australian family.
“It’s Metricon’s belief that there is still strong demand for quality home builds Australia-wide and we’re confident that our business model, coupled with our commitment to innovation and customer service, will enable our continued leadership.” Biasin concluded.
